Durlston Castle

Durlston Castle, now used as a restaurant, may be reached
by Seymer or Park Roads, Sunnydale Road and Lighthouse

It stands upon the higher slopes of Durlston Head and
from its grounds a charming view across Durlston and Swanage
Bays to Old Harry Rock and the Hampshire coast may be seen.

The building is understood to have been originally intended for
use as a Lloyds Signal Station, and was built about the time
when Southampton was becoming prominent as a passenger
port. Nearby is the Great Globe, a 10 ft. relief model of the
earth carved from Purbeck stone.
